Avada comes with multiple prebuilt websites that can be imported with one click, through our prebuilt website importer. This method relies on the proper server configurations, so please check the System Status tab to view any areas of concern, marked in red. There could be rare occasions when the importer will not work, and you need to try an alternate method. Please read below for information on how to import prebuilt websites through our alternate method.

How To Import Prebuilt Websites Through The Alternate Method

Step 1 – Install the required and recommended plugins for the prebuilt website you want to import. For example, Avada Core, Avada Builder, Revolution Slider, Layer Slider and any others that may be listed.

Step 2 – Install and Activate All-in-One WP Migration plugin.

Step 3 – Below is a list of our prebuilt website backup files. Download your desired alternate method backup file to your computer.

Step 8 – Once the update is complete, click Continue. You need to log back into the WordPress admin area using the following username/password details:

1) My prebuilt website pages have styling issues. How do I fix this?

If you’re experiencing styling issues, such as incorrect fonts, broken columns or unaligned sections, this may be because the Global Options haven’t loaded properly. Fortunately, this is very easy to fix. Go to the Avada > Options panel, and refresh the page. After refreshing the page, re-save the Global Options panel by clicking the ‘Save Changes’ button. You don’t need to change any settings. After that, don’t forget to clear all your caches.

If that doesn’t work, try going through the process of refreshing the Global Options panel and re-saving it. If you’re still experiencing issues after one or two tries, please don’t hesitate to send us a support ticket.

2) My menu item links are returning 404 errors. How do I fix this?

After importing a prebuilt website using the alternate method, you will need to re-save your permalinks. To do this, go to the Settings > Permalinks tab on your WordPress admin panel. How To Import Single Prebuilt Website Pages In Avada https://avada.com/documentation/how-to-import-single-prebuilt-website-pages-in-avada/ Wed, 12 Oct 2016 11:42:56 +0000 https://theme-fusion.com/documentation/import-demo-pages-fusion-builder/

With the Avada Builder Library, you can import any page from any Avada prebuilt website. When you import a single prebuilt website page, you get the images and videos as part of the import.

If you wish to import everything from a prebuilt website, you should use the Avada Prebuilt Website Importer located on the Avada > Websites page. Please read below for important information about importing single prebuilt website pages using the Avada Builder Library, and watch the video for a visual overview.

For privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded.

What Comes With A Single Prebuilt Website Page Import

When importing a single prebuilt website page to your Avada website, you’ll receive almost an exact replica of the page as seen on the live website. I use the word almost, because there is some content and settings that are not imported with the page. Because of this, you will sometimes see differences in style and layout. If you’d like to import the exact replica of our live prebuilt websites, you’ll need to import the full prebuilt website, or a section of it.

Content & Settings That Are Imported With Single Pages

  • Entire Page Layout & Content – All Containers, Columns and Elements.
  • Page Template – Page Template set in the Page Attributes section on the Page Options > Settings tab.
  • Avada Page Options – Any Avada Page Options set for the prebuilt website page.
  • Stock Images / Videos – All images or videos used on the prebuilt website page.

Content & Settings That Are Not Imported With Single Pages

  • Global Options – Any global options set in the Avada Global Options.
  • Custom Post Types – Any custom post types, such as blog posts, FAQ items, portfolio items, WooCommerce products etc.
  • Sliders – Any type of slider such as Avada, Revolution, Layer, and Elastic.

Importing Single Prebuilt Website Pages

Step 1 – Create a new page or edit an existing one, in either Avada Builder, or Avada Live.

Step 2 – Click the ‘Library’ icon in the toolbar. This opens on the Websites tab.

Step 3 – Select the website you’d like to import a page from, or alternatively, paste a URL to a specific page at the top left of the dialog.

Avada Builder Library > Websites

Step 4 – Once you select a website, all the pages that are available to import will appear as a list.

Step 5 – To import the page, simply click the Import button that appears beside the page when you mouse over it. A dialog will appear showing you the progress of the import.

Avada Builder Library > Websites Import Page

After a few seconds, the content will load into the Builder. The page content is then fully editable as normal.

How To Remove Prebuilt Website Content After Import https://avada.com/documentation/how-to-remove-prebuilt-website-content-after-import/ Sat, 04 Oct 2014 13:30:24 +0000 https://theme-fusion.com/documentation/remove-duplicate-demo-content-import/

When experimenting with your Avada Website site, you may want to try different prebuilt websites. If you have already imported a prebuilt website and would like to try a different one, you can use the methods mentioned below to remove the imported prebuilt website content. If you don’t remove the old prebuilt website content before starting an additional import, you may see elements and settings from the old website which could affect the layout and the design of the newly imported prebuilt website.

Method 1: Remove Imported Content Through the Avada Prebuilt Website Importer

You can use the Avada Prebuilt Website Importer tool to also remove / uninstall imported Prebuilt Website content.

Step 1 – Navigate to Avada > Websites and find the Prebuilt Website you’re wanting to remove from your site.

Step 2 – Hover over the Prebuilt Website image and select the “Modify” button.

Step 3 – In the lower right-hand corner of the popup window, check the box beside “Uninstall” and click “Remove“.

Note: This will remove any content that was imported through the Importer. If you’ve modified posts / pages and want to keep those, you should save them as a template in the Library so they can be imported again for later use.

Method 2: WP Reset Plugin

This plugin is the fastest way to get back to the starting point of a WordPress install. However, it will remove all content from your database and leave the default theme activated. It does not remove plugins, but will deactivate them. This plugin will remove all pages, posts, menus, sliders, global options, etc. Only do this if you are wanting to start over from a fresh WordPress install.

Step 1 – Download and install the WP Reset Plugin.

Step 2 – After installing the WP Reset Plugin, go to your WordPress plugins page and activate the plugin.

Step 3 – Navigate to Tools > WP Reset, and at the very bottom, you’ll find the ‘Site Reset’ option.

Step 4 – You must first type reset in the text box before you can click ‘Reset’.

Step 5 – A warning pop up will appear informing you again that this action is irreversible. If you’d like to proceed, click ‘Ok’.

Step 6 – Once finished, you’ll be left with a clean WordPress install. You can then re-activate Avada and the included plugins, then import the next prebuilt website you’d like to try or begin adding your own content.

Method 3: Manual Removal

This method will take longer and requires more work but can be done if you want to only remove specific content and keep other prebuilt website content. This method simply involves manually removing/deleting the prebuilt website content items. For example, you would need to go to your “Pages” section and select the page or pages you want to remove and delete them. Repeat this process as needed through the various content areas in WordPress. You can use this method if you’ve already created pages and posts or edited some of the prebuilt website pages/posts and don’t want to lose that work.

How To Import Individual Website Sections Using The Prebuilt Website Importer https://avada.com/documentation/how-to-import-individual-website-sections-using-the-prebuilt-website-importer/ Thu, 19 Sep 2013 22:17:11 +0000 https://theme-fusion.com/documentation/import-individual-pages/

If you don’t want to import an entire prebuilt website, or you want to import extra content from another prebuilt website, you can also import individual sections of a website using the Prebuilt Website Importer.

When importing an Avada Prebuilt Website, you are faced with a dialog with multiple sections. In the top section, is a list of plugins you need to have installed to successfully import the full prebuilt website.

Under this, on the left hand side, is the Import Content section. Normally, All is selected to import the full prebuilt website. But it is possible to just import the pages, or posts, or Layouts, or any section of the website that you want. Just select the section(s) you want to import, and click the Import button at the bottom.

Import Prebuilt Website Sections

Important Information For Importing Sections

It is NOT recommended to import more than one full prebuilt website, without first removing the original import. This is because when doing a full import, global options are also imported, and there can only be one set of these.

However, it is possible to import other sections from a website on top of a full import, as they can also be successfully removed using the Importer. The basic rule here, is not to import the “options” as this will conflict with any previous import.

Before Importing Prebuilt Avada Websites

Before you import any of our available prebuilt websites, please make sure to check the items listed below. All of these are important and will ensure that your website import goes smoothly. In case something does go wrong with your prebuilt website import, please see the Troubleshooting section below.

  • Product Registration – Please make sure to register your product via Purchase Code Registration to be able to access and import our demos.
  • Required Plugins – Install Avada’s required plugins, Avada Core and Avada Builder. Also, make sure you’ve installed the recommended plugins listed on each prebuilt.

  • System Status – Check the System Status tab to ensure your server meets all requirements for a successful import. Settings that need attention are listed in red.

  • ZipArchive Extensions – You must have the ZipArchive extensions installed and activated on your server in order for the Layer Slider and Revolution Slider to import demo sliders correctly. Please ask your hosting company about this if you have any issues.

How To Import Prebuilt Avada Websites

Avada > Websites

Step 1 – Navigate to Avada > Websites from the WordPress Sidebar or the Avada Dashboard.

Step 2 – Select the Avada prebuilt website you wish to import. You can also use the filter on the left to limit the shown websites to the category you choose. If you want to see the website before you import it, when you hover over the website’s image, you will see a Preview Button. This opens the website in another browser tab, so you can check it out in detail.

Step 3 – When you have made your choice, simply hover over the website and click the Import button. That will launch the Prebuilt Website Importer where you can make additional selections.

Step 4 – Take note of the middle section of the Prebuilt Website Importer. There you’ll see a list of required plugins for the full import to be successful. If all the plugins have “Active” beside them, then you’re ready to import. There will be a red notice of “Activate” or “Install” if either actions are needed. View screenshot here.

Step 5 – Choose what content to import. Your selection can range from “All”, which will be the full website content, to just pages, posts, FAQs, or any combination of those content options. Once you’ve made your selections, click “Import” to start the process. It can take a few minutes to import everything. Please be patient and wait for it to complete. Once complete, the loading bar will become a “Done” button. Click the button to close the dialog and complete the process.

There are two ways to import any one of our prebuilt websites, and for both, you need to register your purchase first. The first is to run the Avada Setup Wizard. This runs automatically on new installs, or you can also trigger it through the Status page (Avada > Maintainence > Status). See the How To Use The Avada Setup Wizard for more details on that process.

Alternatively, you can use the Prebuilt Website Importer. This can be found at Avada > Websites. Here, you will find all of our prebuilt websites, and you will also find a filter in the left hand column, to help you find exactly the style of website you want.

We recommend importing prebuilt websites on a fresh WordPress install. Importing a prebuilt website will not replace existing content like posts, pages, portfolios, etc. and it will not delete current menus or sliders. It will, however, import and set as active the prebuilt website menus, add sliders and replace current Avada Global Options with prebuilt website options. It will also replace WordPress Reading and Widget Settings. So for these reasons, it is strongly recommended you do not import a prebuilt website on a completed, or website under progress.

Read on to learn about importing an Avada prebuilt site, and watch the video below for a visual overview.

How To Remove Prebuilt Avada Websites

Step 1 – Navigate to Avada > Websites from the WordPress Sidebar or the Avada Dashboard.

Step 2 – If you take a look at the thumbnail of the website you have imported, you will now see a label on it. If you have imported the full Demo, it will say Full Import (as seen below). If you have imported only parts of the website, it will say Partial Import. In any case, to remove the website content, the process is the same.

Step 3 – Simply mouse over the thumbnail, and choose Modify. This brings up the Prebuilt Website Importer dialog again, and this time, on the right hand side, you will see a section called Remove Content.

Step 4 – Select Remove, and then click the large Remove button at the bottom of the dialog, and say yes to the resulting notice. This Prebuilt Website importer will run, and will now remove everything that the importer installed, and leave any other content behind.

Step 5 – When it has completed, click the Done button at the bottom.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter errors during or after importing a prebuilt website, please see below for possible solutions. If you don’t find what you’re looking for below, please don’t hesitate to submit a support ticket to our support team.

Missing websites on the Websites’ page

If the websites aren’t appearing on the Avada > Websites page, then your purchase may not have been registered. Please register your product first to access the Prebuilt Avada Websites.

Slider Alias or ID Not Found For Layer or Revolution Slider

If you already have sliders made, or something unexpected occurs during the import due to low server memory, it’s possible that our website sliders may not be assigned to the pages. You may see an error such as Revolution Slider Error: Slider with alias Avada_Full_Width not found or LayerSlider cannot be found. Sliders are applied by the Slider ID. Each slider gets its own unique ID and they are given in numerical order. If you open up a page after importing the content and you see an error like that, you only need to edit the page and assign the slider to the page. To verify you have the sliders, go to the Layer or Revolution Slider section of your admin to see them listed. If you do not see them, then you can import the sliders separately.

Timeouts and Website import failures

Timeouts are the most common issue, and can be fixed by increasing your system limits, as noted below. With Avada, if your prebuilt import times out, you may see a dialog as shown below. If the import has run for long enough to finish a particular step, you can now continue the import by clicking on the Continue button. For best results though, it’s always best to check your system limits and make sure they are high enough that you don’t run into issues in the first place.

Prebuilt Import > Timeout

If your prebuilt website import fails, there will be a notice and some info on what may have gone wrong in a popup. You’ll find some suggestions of what to check first in that same popup. For example Website import failed. Please check for PHP limits in red on the System Status page. Change those to the recommended values and try again. You’ll always want to check your System Status page first to see if there are any low limits in red. If you see that, increase them to the recommended limit and then try the import. Generally your web host will be able to take care of increasing low limits for you. More info on changing these specific server limits can be found here.

For details on Avada required minimums, please see our post here.

Prebuilt Website Content Will Still Not Import – Try Alternative Methods

If your host will not make changes, or you cannot get the website content to import, then please try our Alternative Prebuilt Website Import Method.

Post Cards Not Displaying Content

Sometimes, you might import a site and find that the Post Card Element is not displaying the content that is in the prebuilt. Upon import of the prebuilt, WordPress assign IDs in its own way, and does not neccesarily assign the same IDs as we have on the prebuilts. Thus, for example, categories or tags selected in Post Card Elements might not have the same IDs, and so won’t display any content. In the Post Card Element, you say see just an X or Null where a tag or cetegory should be listed. A workaround is to clear the tags or categories and select them again. We are working on a solution for this.

Website Content Duplicated

Method 1: WP Reset Plugin – This plugin is the fastest way to get rid of content. However, it will remove all content from your database and leave the default theme activated. It does not remove plugins, but will deactivate them and remove all pages, posts, menus, sliders, widget data, Global Options, etc. It removes all the content from your database. Only do this if you are planning to start your site freshly from a new WordPress install/new Prebuilt Website import. Click here to download the WP Reset plugin.

Method 2: Manual Removal – This method will take longer and simply involves manually removing duplicate items. For example, go to the Appearance > Menu and delete any duplicate items one by one. It will be the same process for pages, post, sliders, images etc.

Prebuilt Website Blog Posts Show Up In Your Blog Feed

Most of our prebuilt websites contains published blog posts. If you import on a live site, plugins like JetPack will notice new posts and push them out into your blog feed. Please disable any plugin that may do that before you import. After the import, you can remove the posts or save them as drafts then turn your plugin back on.

What Is A Prebuilt Website?

An Avada prebuilt website is simply a showcase, or an example, of what’s possible with the Avada Website Builder. It is a collection of pages, posts, images, and options etc, that you can import into Avada.

Each website represents a specific industry such as Health & Beauty, Fashion, Photography and more. The websites have been made to demonstrate how flexible Avada can be. These websites are designed and built by our professional designers, using Avada Builder.

Avada Prebuilt Websites

How Are Prebuilt Websites Useful?

Avada prebuilt websites can be very useful, primarily when you don’t know where to begin. If you’re new to building websites, importing a prebuilt website can be a great starting point, because all the pages and content are created for you. You then go in and tweak it to your liking, changing out the text and images to your own. Check out the How To Customise Avada Prebuilt Websites video series for a great rundown on this process.

Alternatively, you might just want to import a website so you can explore how the designs were put together, or to experiment with Avada’s various capabilities and options. If you’d like to try another prebuilt, there are several methods to remove website content so you can import a new one. More details on that can be found here.

Importing A Prebuilt Website

If you would like to import a prebuilt Avada website, there are two ways you can do so. The Avada Setup Wizard runs automaically on all new installs, and through this, you can import any of the prebuilt websites. See How To Use The Avada Setup Wizard for more information on this process.

Alternatively, you can use the Avada Prebuilt Website Importer, found at Avada > Websites to import prebuilt website, and with this tool you can import the entire website, or only certain sections you’re interested in (e.g. Posts, Pages, images, Global Options, etc). Additionally, you can import content on a per page basis, from any demo, through the Avada Builder Library. If you run into any issues using these methods, you can also import prebuilt websites manually, although this does require a bit more effort.

Important Details About Prebuilt Websites

  • Published Posts – Some of our prebuilt websites contain published blog posts. If you import on a live site, plugins like JetPack will notice new posts and push them out into your blog feed. Please disable any plugin that may do that before you import. After the import, you can remove the posts, or save them as drafts then re-activate the plugin.

  • Images & Videos – Our prebuilt website images and self-hosted videos are not included in the Avada license because many are licensed stock resources that cannot be re-used on other sites. For videos, prebuilt website imports include watermarked versions. To learn more about this, please see our Licensing For Stock Images Used On Prebuilt Websites article.

  • Sliders – We do not include all prebuilt website sliders because there are too many to import. However, we do include several examples. If you wish to download all websites sliders, please see our Licensing For Stock Images Used On Prebuilt Websites article.
